Stamping Workshop

With Dr. Kari Foulke

Carving stamps out of linoleum is one of the simplest forms of printmaking. In this workshop you will be carving a simple stamp out of linoleum and using it to create an art print to take home. All materials will be provided.

About the Artist

I have never considered myself an artist but in June 2022 my friend and incredibly talent artist Jenny Harp put on a collaborative stamping workshop and I signed up to give it a try. I loved sitting together in community and creating art, which was a large part of my inspiration to co-found the Medical Arts Project of Sonoma.

In addition to enjoying the community aspect I also truly loved carving stamps and making prints. It was so simple, but the prints I was able to create even as a total beginner were beautiful. And I loved that I could use the same stamp to make so many different pieces of art in different colors and patterns.

I took my new found love of stamp making and carved silly stamps with my children, I created a logo for my sisters wedding and went on to hand stamp all of her thank you cards and, most recently, I created our Foulke Family Christmas card using this technique.

I am looking forward to sharing what I have learned and seeing what my fellow medical professionals will create in this workshop.
